Programme Notes: After the first performance of my Soprano Saxophone Quintet I decided to write a second version which would bring out the more percussive side of that work. The soprano saxophone and cello parts are identical to the original quintet, however I then composed a piano part which rarely refers to the violin and viola parts of the quintet, instead the piano part was written to bring a different, more percussive, quality to the work.
